Parkdale Baptist Church is committed to:
Improving access to all services provided by our church (sign language interpretation,
written support materials, etc.).
Educating the community at large about issues related to the deaf and hard of hearing
population.
The mission of this Deaf and Hearing Impaired Ministry is to make certain that all deaf and
hard of hearing people have access to the services at Parkdale Baptist Church. Presently
sign language interpreting is provided for the Sunday Morning Worship Service. In the
future we would like to offer Sign language classes and other activities to help others to
learn to sign.
Our ministry with the deaf and hearing impaired of our community continues to grow!
Parkdale Baptist Church's ministry with the deaf and hearing impaired includes:
- ASL Interpreted worship at the Sunday Traditional Worship at 11:00 am
- Regular fellowship opportunities (meals, trips, etc.)
Parkdale Baptist Church is working on offering the following services in the future:
- A Sunday morning Bible Study class for deaf adults that meets at 9 am led by a
very qualified and knowledgeable ASL Interpreter.
- Special studies for the deaf (in homes)
- Periodic American Sign Language classes offered (most often taught by a deaf
person)
- Periodic American Sign Language classes offered (most often taught by a deaf
person)
- We will try to meet the needs of deaf children & youth in regular Sunday School
classes with their hearing peers (we will provide an interpreter whenever possible).
- Special studies for deaf (in homes)

Place the tip of the middle finger of the right open hand into the left
ASL Sign for GOD
Point the "G" forward in front of you, draw it up and back down, opening the palm, which
is facing left.
ASL Sign for LORD:
Place the right "L" at the left shoulder, then on the right waist. (see diagram)
